Policy for Dispensing and Storage of Children’s Medication
During the three hours of attendance (9 am – 12 pm), only life-threatening medications will be stored at the preschool. This may include epi-pens, Benadryl with a physician’s prescription, and asthma inhalers.
Medications will be administered to a child only upon written authorization of the parents/caregivers. The medication must be in its original container with the child’s name, directions for use, prescribing physician’s name, medication name, strength of medication, prescription number, date filled, expiration date, and name of pharmacy. Over the counter medications must be accompanied by a physician’s prescription attached.
Parents/caregivers are encouraged to administer all other medications prior to bringing their child to class.
